"Why would you want to compare yourself to a dive bar?"

Growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, dive bars are a big part of the charm. A simple no-frills building with an old school wooden bar, and vintage decor makes for a cozy space where people come for their own different reasons. A dive bars a place to celebrate, to grieve, to catch up with old friends, and to meet new ones.

You can talk to the bartender, the older gentleman who plays pool every Thursday, the local high school gymnastics coach, or the young couple who comes in for their favorite sports game. Its the heart of their town, their gathering place. Its where in small town Wisconsin, community is built.

Although it might not seem glamorous, its down to earth and it holds a lot more meaning.

About Me

Emily James

I’m a recent Milwaukee Area Technical College graduate with an associates in graphic design. I’ve been involved in art for as long as I can remember. In grade school I would trace the animals on my folder and sell the drawings for quarters.

Design to me, is balancing art and logic. I love branding and packaging, which makes it very hard to walk through Target. I love being able to bring creative ideas to life and the excitement of the final piece.

Outside of art and design work, I’m usually just that, outside. I love bonfires, camping and anything on the water. In the winter I’ll ice skate on any frozen body of water I can. Being outside just helps me slow down when things get too busy.
